CarolinaPros Evening of Stars and Caviar - Casino Night
CarolinaPros hosted its first casino night event during the World’s Greatest Alumni Game weekend in Chapel Hill in 2003. The event has continued and once again was held at the famed Carolina Club on the UNC campus in Chapel Hill. This year’s event included a sit down dinner, a Vegas headliner entertainer, a live band, silent auction, and a night of cards and other casino type activities. Participants again enjoyed a night of fun with faux funds for a worthwhile cause! The annual Casino Night events have been attended by celebrities such as: King Rice, Jerry Stackhouse, Antawn Jamison, Shammond Williams, JR Reid, Walter Davis, Phil Ford, Rasheed Wallace, Raymond Felton, Sean May, Jimmy Black, Derrick Phelps, Charles Waddell, Steve Streater, Octavus Barnes, Brendan Haywood, Brian Reese, and Donald Williams.
World's Greatest Alumni Game
CarolinaPros has teamed with former UNC standout Jerry Stackhouse as host of the World's Greatest Alumni Game from 2002-2005.
1st World's Greatest Alumni Game - 2002
The first "World's Greatest Alumni Game" was held at the RBC Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. Vince Carter and Jerry Stackhouse dazzled the crowd with a highlight reel of dunks. With the clock winding down, Jeff McInnis signaled for the Four Corners play and the crowd went wild. A one-handed alley-oop finish by Stackhouse brought the crowd to its feet and, at the buzzer, Rasheed Wallace dunked off of a lob pass from Stackhouse. The score was close and the end made it really memorable. Recording artists Boyz II Men joined the athletes and coaches at the autograph session. (Check out an interview with Jerry Stackhouse regarding the 1st Alumni Game). Read the Notes and Stats from the 1st Game.
2003- World's Greatest Alumni Game
The 2nd Annual "World's Greatest Alumni Game" was held on Saturday, August 23rd 2003 at the Dean E. Smith Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Jerry Stackhouse, former UNC star and current Washington Wizard, served as host. Stackhouse has been a national spokesman for the American Diabetes Association (ADA), and is passionate in his mission to join the fight for a cure. Proceeds from the game benefited the American Diabetes Association. The 2003 game format featured a team of former UNC athletes versus a team of former ACC standouts and friends. Team UNC scored 121 points in a victory over Team ACC, which finished with 109 points. The teams were coached by an all-star line-up that included Phil Ford and former Wolf Pack Phil Spence. Recording artist saxophonist Mike Phillips dazzled the crowd with his rendition of the National Anthem. Phillips enjoyed the game from the sidelines as Coaches Dean Smith and Bill Guthridge watched the action from the coaches’ booth.
Game participants included: Rick Fox, Brendan Haywood, Antawn Jamison, Walter Davis, Jeff McInnis, Eric Montross, Sam Perkins, Kenny Smith, Donald Williams, Shammond Williams, JR Reid, Joe Forte, Derrick Phelps, Jason Capel, Serge Zwikker, Ed Cota, Terrence Newby, Brian Reese and more, plus other former UNC players on the bench as "assistant coaches" as well as in the stands. ACC players and friends included Chris Wilcox, Dahntay Jones, Steve Blake, Ronald Murray, Chucky Brown, Anthony Grundy, Jermaine Jackson, Nancy Lieberman, Delaney Rudd, and Rusty LaRue.
2004 - World's Greatest Alumni Game
The 2004 WGAG was held August 28th, 2004 at the Dean E. Smith Center. The CarolinaPros All-Stars defeated the ACC All-Stars in another exciting, action packed game as legendary, Hall of Fame Coach Dean Smith and Grammy Award Winner Brian McKnight enjoyed the contest from courtside. ESPN analyst and former NBA star Greg Anthony teamed up with CarolinaPros to provide courtside broadcasting of the game, which followed a busy morning as athletes gathered at Chapel Hill’s University Mall for the Feed the Children food drive. Boxes of food and personal care items were distributed to 400 families from Chapel Hill and surrounding communities. Prior to the game athletes signed autographs at the Fan Appreciation Extravaganza, which took place in the practice gymnasium adjoining the Smith Center.
2005 - World's Greatest Alumni Game
The 2005 WGAG took place in the Dean E. Smith Center. Once again the CarolinaPros All-Stars defeated the ACC All-Stars and Friends, despite a tenacious effort from team ACC. Led by coaches Jeff Capel and Gene Banks of Duke, Darrell Armstrong of Fayetteville State, and Josh Howard and Chris Paul of Wake Forest, the ACC All-Stars fell to a CarolinaPros team led by NBA rookie sensation and dunking phenom JR Smith.
Smith, who was drafted to the NBA out of high school, was invited to play with the CarolinaPros All-Stars because of his commitment to attend UNC had he not gone to the NBA. Smith, a finalist in the slam-dunk contest, did not disappoint with his amazing display of highflying dunks.

World's Greatest Alumni Youth Clinic
CarolinaPros hosted its first Youth Clinic on Saturday, August 26th at the Dean Smith Center in Chapel Hill, NC from 1-4 pm. The clinic kicked off the CarolinaPros Health & Fitness Challenge, a statewide initiative that will launch this fall.
The clinic featured athletes, former athletes, and coaches from men's and women's basketball, football, track and field and other sports. CarolinaPros teamed up with the Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA and other organizations to present this excellent event, which focused on the "total package" of fitness.
Boys and girls ages 8 through rising eighth grade participated in the youth clinic along with former and current student-athletes from UNC and other ACC schools and professionals from the Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA, the UNC School of Medicine, Carolina Fitness, the NCCU Athletic Department, and Camp Timber Creek. Complimentary bus service was provided from University Mall to the Smith Center and back by the YMCA. Demonstrations and active participation in the areas of physical activity, nutrition, and rest were followed by a basketball relay competition between the Tar Heels team coached by former Tar Heel Henrietta Taylor Walls and the Blue Devils coached by former Blue Devil Gene Banks. Former Virginia athlete Stan Norfleet of the Charlotte Bobcats also participated in the clinic. “The Return” posters featuring Sean May, Raymond Felton, and Marvin Williams were distributed, along with tee shirts, and participants lined up for autographs and pictures.
