NBA Finals - Another Tar Heel winner

As two teams without championships, Miami Heat and the Dallas Mavericks, prepared for 2006 NBA Finals, the Carolina family stand to shine no matter who wins the title.

CarolinaPros World's Greatest Alumni Game host Jerry Stackhouse suits up for the Mavericks. Stackhouse is the fourth leading scorer on the squad at 13 points per game, three assists and three rebounds. After years of high scoring, Stackhouse sacrified his personal stats to play the Dallas team game - and that approach has him and them on the brink of a title.

While no former Heels don the jersey of the Heat, a former Tar Heel and Basketball Hall of Famer Bob McAdoo sits on the Miami coaching staff. McAdoo, a three-time NBA scoring champion won two championships with Los Angeles Lakers near the end of his 14 years playing tenure in the NBA. Having spent his final years in the NBA playing for Pat Riley, the then coach of the Lakers then, McAdoo now serves as one of Riley’s assistant coaches in Miami.

While not quite as visible as Stackhouse around town still, McAdoo still comes back to the area as his sons attend the UNC basketball camp and he has family in the area.
